The Ideal golf course facilities?
I have a few golf courses in reasonable driving distance. So which should I choose?
What facilities do you thing are:
- Essential (eg. practice green)
- very valuable (eg. Pro shop)
- handy (eg. 19th hole)
- Don’t worry about it (eg. BBQ area)
add your own ideas (toilets near each tee, driving range night lights, trained crocs to fetch your balls going into water hazards)
The ideal golf course facilities are meaningless unless the membership is cordial, not clicky, willing to play with any member not only the favored few. Then the amenities become more of a factor.First, one needs a well groomed golf course, a knowledgeable pro shop, good club house facilities including a bar and good kitchen, a fair sized practice green with varying contours and flat areas, an adequate practice range so that practice is meaningful and then the young guys who get your clubs, set up the carts and clean the sticks at the end of the round. Drinking water on the course at several locations is also a must along with the toilet locations. Since our course’s nines start and end at the clubhouse we do not require on-course refreshment stand facilities.
